Tower Defense Games, Just One More Level…

Tower Defense Games, Just One More Level…

The Steam Summer Sale ends today. Last chance to purchase games (legally!) before you… have to wait until the Steam Winter Sale.

I’ve been on a tower defense trip recently. It’s interesting how niche sub-genres like this evolve, from gimmicky Starcraft maps to addictive Flash games to full-featured games I’m spending real people money on.

Two games I bought are Defense Grid and Sanctum. The first is a sci-fi, straight tower defense game; no curveballs here, just the regular tower building and passive enemy shooting.

Sanctum is a cool hybrid of first-person shooter and tower defense. Once you lay down your towers, you jump in an start shooting stuff up. I like sniping and the sniper rifle in this one is just what I like. Responsive, instant hit, simple scope controls. Plus, I don’t have to worry about the enemies trying to kill me since they’re just going for the core anyways, with their backs turned, with their delicious heads just waiting to be shot. It has multiplayer co-op too, for those who have friends.
