I’ve been reading the headrush blog lately, and have learnt a lot about how humans learn.  Basically, if the content isn’t meaningful to the user, you will have a hell of a time keeping focus.  Things like TIGERS are very high on the focus list. So when Winnie asked me for some advice on how to study her boring CGA material.  I told her to imagine the accounting book is a TIGER, who will eat you alive if you don’t finish reading it.  Unsurprisingly she has stopped asking me for studying tips.  WIN WIN!

Do you remember doing those math contest back in school? I did quite a few of them throughout grade school and high school. They were really tough, I never got more then a few of the questions right. Looking back, the pre-university me thought I was pretty smart, but when you get to university, you realize that everyone around is just as smart, if not smarter. It’s a real humbling experience. It also forces you to excel to limits you never thought possible. I think that’s one of the only useful things about going to university. That and all the great people you meet that are just like you.
